MULBERRY, FLA. — Richard “Dick” Frederick Peterson, 85, of Mulberry, Fla. passed away on March 22, 2013, peacefully of natural causes.
Dick was born in Detroit on April 22, 1927. Shortly after high school, he enlisted with the U.S. Army as a skilled draftsman. His talent as an engineer continued after the service taking him to Traverse City where he made significant contributions to the engineering world and Cone Drive. He married Priscilla “Copley” Peterson, they shared 33 years of marriage, and four children. Dick raised his family teaching them to love and appreciate the outdoors.
Dick retired from Cone Drive after 38 years. Dick will be remembered for countless amazing qualities. He was a loving husband and father. He was a talented artist and outdoor enthusiast. A soft spoken gentle man, Dick would always bring love, patience, and a helpful hand to any situation. He was deeply loved, and will be deeply missed by us all.
Dick is survived by three sons; Jan, Blair, and Jerry Peterson; and one daughter, Sharon Piatek Peterson; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild; two brothers, Warren and Ken Peterson.
A memorial service for Dick will be held in Traverse City later in the year.
