KALKASKA — Robert D. Anderson, 73, of Kalkaska, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at KMHC – LTC. He was born on Nov. 25, 1939, in Kalkaska, the son of the late Sven and Fairy Lucille (Lesher) Anderson.
He was the devoted father of Diane (Jerry) Anderson-Miller, of Thermopolis, Wyo.; cherished grandfather of Ashleigh (Jerry) Wilson, Anderson “Annie” (Andrew) Borgen, Arica L. Miller, all of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Jarrod L. Miller, of Cody, Wyo.; and beloved great-grandfather of Aiden Borgen.
Robert graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1957 and joined the U.S. Navy. He loved everything about the Navy, including the traveling and all of the different experiences that came with it. Robert later became a recruiter until his retirement 21 years after enlisting.
Deciding he had a lot of extra time, Robert began working for the U.S. Postal Service and retired over 20 years later.
His hobbies included trout fishing, traveling during the winter, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his friends at the local VFW post.
Robert was preceded in death by his twin sisters, Helen May and Ellen Kay Anderson.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 5 until 8 p.m., at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home. The funeral service is on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
