---- — TRAVERSE CITY - Janet Regina April, of Maple City, and known to the love of her life as “Sady,” passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City at the age of 74.
Janet was born on Wednesday, April 5, 1939 to the late David and Janet (Baird) Anderson in Oak Park, Ill. She moved with her parents to Traverse City at a young age. Following high school, she attended Michigan Tech where she earned her bachelor’s degree in medical techniology. On Saturday, June 20, 1970 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Traverse City she married Leo L. April.
Janet had been employed as a medical lab technician at the Ostepathic Hospital and later worked for Traverse City Products and in various other positions in the community. She enjoyed bowling, attending car shows with their 57 Chevy, craft shows and was a proponent of good education. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her herbed beans.
Janet’s faith was important to her and she and Leo were members of Advent Lutheran Church in Lake Ann. Her family was the most important in her life, and spending time with them was always a blessing to her.
She is survived by her husband, Leo; her children, John of Traverse City, David of Maple City and Sheila Cruse of Paduccah, Ky.; her grandchildren Micheal, Michael and Matthew Cruse and Austin and Aubrey Anderson, all of Paduccah, Ky. She is also survived by her sister, Margo Riddlebaugh of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter Heather.
Visitation for Janet will take place from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating her life will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 4, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City. Pastor Justin Grimm of Advent Lutheran Church will officiate.
