LAKE ANN — Aldwina Marie Lawrence, 79, of Lake Ann, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at home with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Warren, the daughter of Lyle and Gertrude (Heacock) Powell.
Aldwina loved to play sports, especially basketball and baseball. She lettered in basketball in high school. She also enjoyed crocheting, canning, and fishing with her husband. Most of all, Aldwina loved to spend time with her family.
Aldwina is survived by her children, Pat (Dan) Clark of North Carolina, Gerald (Rhonda) Lawrence of Sault Ste. Marie, Greg Lawrence of Clare, Annette (John) Bumgardner of Lake Ann, Cheryl Caputo of Traverse City, and Chris (Kathy) Lawrence of Lake Ann; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Lylia Messina of Richmond, Frieda Thompson of Grawn, Sue Brow of Saint Clair Shores, and Noal (Gloria) Powell of Kingston.
On December 8, 1951, in East Detroit, Aldwina married Gerald Arthur Lawrence, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; her son, Richard Lawrence; and her siblings, Donna Hall, Lyle Powell, John Powell, and Richard Powell.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Lake Ann United Methodist Church, in Lake Ann, with Pastor Devon Herrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church.
