RAPID CITY — Christine Forbes-Dykhuis, 60, of Rapid City, passed away at Munson Medical Center on March 3, 2013. She was born on March 4, 1952 to Neil E. and Evelyn (Bussa) Way in Traverse City.
Christine graduated from Pontiac High School in 1970, and attended NMC where she earned an associate’s degree in art. She worked as a home health caregiver for most of her life and was employed by Meadow Brook in Bellaire. During the summers, she ran a fruit market in Bellaire for 20 years that fed and employed most of her family. On January 2, 2000, Christine married John Dykhuis. She was a member of the Torch Lake Assembly of God. Christine was a spiritual mother to all, especially her nieces and nephews. She could be best described as a Proverbs 31 woman.
Christine is survived by her husband John; siblings Gwen Mason, Teresa Gallagan, Barbara (Dennis) Farmer, Dan Way, Cindy (Dale) Schaaf, and Donald (Shellie) Way, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Cathy Sternaman and Janet Perry.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., on Friday, March 8, at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids.
