---- — KALKASKA — Sandra Robertson Taylor, born March 16, 1936, in Detroit, passed away Feb. 28, 2013, after a long illness.

She is survived by her husband, John Taylor; her three children, Jeffrey Taylor, Amy Taylor Johnson and Susannah Taylor; her five grandchildren; her sister, Donna Robertson Feucht; and her cousin, Cynthia Gortney.

Sandie was known as ‘The Great Communicator,’ keeping correspondence with approximately 150 people through her yearly individually handwritten Christmas letters and various cards and notes throughout the rest of the year. Her friendships ranged from her kindergarten classmates to new friends made throughout the years and from all over the country. She loved people and eagerly shared that love with all of those around her.

Her tremendous warmth, loyalty and at times bawdy sense of humor made her a joy to be with. Her skills in the kitchen made every event festive and delicious, which was all part of her nurturing and giving character, something that made her as happy as it made the recipients.

But there was a feistiness that was always combined with her loving nature.

A graduate of Grosse Pointe High, she volunteered to help organize their reunions for many years. An inveterate racket sport enthusiast, she and Donna tore up the badminton courts as children and played tennis throughout their adulthood. Sandie was always surrounded by books, both read and to-be-read, and loved to share those stories with friends. She and Jack were active bridge players throughout their marriage, and more recently she was a caller for Lamp Lighters.

We are honoring her requests to be cremated and that there be no funeral. A memorial may follow later in the year.
