GRAND LEDGE — Raymond M. Bratschi, loving husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2013. He was born on April 1, 1932, in Lansing, son of Otto and Rena (Mogg) Bratschi.
Raymond was a retired civil engineer for the State of Michigan, DNR, and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army, where he received three Bronze Stars.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Grand Ledge.
In 1941 he moved to Elk Rapids, where he lived with his loving Uncle Bert and Aunt Mary Bratschi along with four cousins.
He was a graduate of Elk Rapids High School, where he was captain of the Elks basketball team and valedictorian of the graduating class of 1950.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Jacqueline (Abbruzzese) Bratschi; their children, Chris Bratschi, of Jackson, Tenn., Mary (Gordon) Van Wieren, of Okemos, and Marcia (Michael) Gresens, of East Lansing; four grandchildren, Betsy and Trey Van Wieren, Gunnar and Sabrina Gresens.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dick Bratschi.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 10 a.m., at the St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837, with Fr. James Eisele serving as celebrant. Military honors will be at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken, and followed by a luncheon at St. Michaels. Visitations will be held at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, on Monday, April 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with vigil services to be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
