TRAVERSE CITY — Bernard Marvin Irish, 73, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bernie was born on March 11, 1939, in Fife Lake, to the late Clifford and Katherine (Dalzell) Irish. He married Lorna Violet Chervenka on Sept. 28, 1979, in Traverse City.
Bernie moved to the area at the age of two.
He honorably served our country in the United States Army.
In 1994 Bernie retired after 31 years of dedicated service to the City of Traverse City.
During his retirement he enjoyed going to Florida and anything to do with music. The string instruments were his favorite and he even played in a couple of bands.
Surviving Bernie are his wife, Lorna; children, Vern (Lisa) Irish and Darlene Irish; stepchildren, Joseph (Peggy) Nilo, Edward Philips and Judy Phillips; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Milton Irish, JoAnn Snyder, Judy Irish and Mary Irish; and many other loving family members and friends.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Burton, Lester Maxine and Richard.
Private family services will take place at a later date.
