James E. Beuerle

SUTTONS BAY — James Edward Beuerle, 82, of Suttons Bay, formerly of West Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his home with family at his side.

Jim was born on Aug. 16, 1930, in Suttons Bay, the son of Raymond Edward Beuerle and Amelia Elizabeth (Kiessel) Beuerle. On Aug. 27, 1966, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Suttons Bay, he married Ann Elizabeth (Menmuir) Beuerle, who survives.

Jim graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and was a 41-year employee and associate of Hubbell, Roth & Clark, Inc., Consulting Engineers of Bloomfield Hills.

A registered engineer, he was a longtime consultant to the cities of Sterling Heights, Utica, Romeo, Grosse Ile and Southfield, as well as to Macomb County.

He was a former member of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Michigan Society of Civil Engineers.

With Edmund Herman, Jim operated the family cherry farm in Suttons Bay for over 50 years.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved traveling, gardening, woodworking and skiing.

The family is especially grateful for the loving care Jim received from Barbara Goodearl, Santina Glinski, Kathie Scott and Angela Poneta-Dedenbach.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; three sons, James Jr. (Sarah), of Singapore, Stephen (Vickie), of San Diego, Mark (Liz) Beuerle, of Commerce Twp.; a brother, Donald (Brenda) Beuerle; a sister, Joan Warden; brother-in-law, John Kelsch; six grandchildren, Alex, Emma, Grace, Bethany, Kalyn and Erin Beuerle; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Rosemary Kelsch.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m., at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael’s Church in Suttons Bay. The Rev. Leonard Paul will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
