Anton Lawrence Broghamer

TRAVERSE CITY — Anton L. Broghamer, 86, of Traverse City, died Thursday evening, Feb. 14, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 22, 1926, in Traverse City, he was the son of the late Antone L. Sr. and Amelia (Kaltenbach) Broghamer.

Tony was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

As his hobbies he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, camping and riding his bike and was well known for his meticulous woodworking skills. He will be remembered for the tremendous energy he spent working on his yard and garden.

Tony was employed by Boughey Bottling Company, Parson’s Manufacturing, Red Mill Lumber Company and enjoyed working on the Hopkins’ Family Cherry Farm. He retired in 1993 after owning and operating Campus Laundry for over 13 years.

He is survived by his children, Anton (Denise) Broghamer, of Lake Ann, Linda Witkowski, of Traverse City, Kneale Broghamer, of Traverse City, and Gayle (Joel) Tolle, of Safety Harbor, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy, Leslie (David), Lori, Michael (Tammy) and Shari (Hermias); 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred Broghamer, Frances Chamberlain and Bertha Noftz; along with a host of other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Tony was also preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine (Hopkins) Broghamer, who died on Jan. 29, 1994; and his sister, Mary Warner.

The Broghamer family will greet friends at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. James Hayden and the Rev. Miriano Dellagiovanna will concelebrate. Burial will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

In remembrance of Tony, memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church.
