Robert H. Widman, age 86, of Exeter Twp., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Culver Meadows Senior Living in Traverse City.
Funeral services will be held at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home Inc. today, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. Rev. Mark Berlin of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Interlochen, will officiate the service. Burial will be in Carleton Cemetery, Carleton, Mich. Military Honors will be accorded under the auspices of VFW Post 4093.
Born on April 9, 1926, in Detroit, he was the son of Carl and Florence (Hutchinson) Widman. On July 4, 1947, he married Clarabell Tory in Detroit.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Robert was a General Foreman at Michigan Castings Center until retiring.
He was a past commander and member of VFW Post 4093. Robert also was a member of the Weak Signal Radio Control and Cloud Busters Radio Control Clubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Donald.
Surviving are three sons, Carl (Brenda) Widman of Irish Hills, Arthur (Geneva) Widman of Eldon, Mo., and James Widman of Belleville; and daughter, Roberta Mowry of Traverse City; a brother, Harold Widman of St. Clair Shores; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
