KALEVA — Mildred Beatrice Bahr, 92, of Kaleva, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility in Manistee. She was born April 27, 1921, in Chief, the daughter of Herman and Ethel (Buckner) Lutz.
Mildred was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed making candy and baking, and was known for her pies and candies. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends, playing cards and doing several craft projects, including ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Mildred loved tending to her flowers and feeding the birds. Most of all, Mildred loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Mildred was a member of the Marilla Church of the Brethren.
Mildred is survived by 10 children, John (Vicki) Mackey, of Bear Lake, Jim (Barb) Mackey, of Bear Lake, Dennis (Diane) Mackey, of Kaleva, Jean Peterson, of Kingsley, Larry (Nita) Bahr, of Theodore, Ala., Don Bahr, of Interlochen, Bob Mackey, of Bear Lake, Janice (Ron) Long, of Traverse City, Barbara (Dave) Smoot, of Frankfort, and David Bahr, of Angola, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Calvin “Pete” (Lorraine) Lutz, of Kaleva; her sister-in-law, Carol Harrigan, of Traverse City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Bahr; two brothers, Jerry Lutz and Ralph Lutz; and three sisters, Doris Pennington, Crystal Pomeroy and Evelyn Czarnecki.
Memorial services will be held at noon Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, with Pastor Joe Wave officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
