TRAVERSE CITY — Johnny Glenn Koon, age 65, of Traverse City, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Johnny was born on April 14, 1947, in Grand Rapids. He was raised by his adoptive parents, John and Virginia Koon, who preceded him in death. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
Johnny married Lola J. (Wilson) on Oct. 21, 1972.
He had worked for Federal Armored in Traverse City for 20 years, both as an armed guard and as the fleet mechanic. He was also a welder and a torch man.
He enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood and also collected guns and knives.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Lola; children, Joshua (Laura) Koon, Niki (Rob) Hengartner and adopted son, Michael Frankeberger, all of Traverse City. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Mason, Conner, Jada, Malachi, Michael, Matthew and Natalie.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jane Lippert officiating.
