---- — Traverse City — Violet May Bolek, 91, of Traverse City and formerly of Flint passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at Munson Medical Center with her family by her side.
Vi was born Dec. 15, 1920 in Bibon, Wis. to Eli and Hilga (Salga) Lasilla. She lived most of her life in Michigan graduating from high school in Brimley. Vi attended cosmetology school and worked in Sault St. Marie, Petoskey, Traverse City, Bay City and Flint. She became a cosmetology instructor.

A sweet and wonderful lady, Vi's beautiful blue eyes sparkled like a smile. Her nickname "Blondie" came from those dear to her due to her beautiful light blonde hair. She loved life and was devoted to her family. Vi enjoyed anything involving family, spending time with them fishing and camping on family outings. She was a Life Member of VFW Auxiliary and liked spending time doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, knitting or crocheting. In more recent years she enjoyed watching her grand dog compete in dog agility.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Elmer, and her husband, Edward in 1980.
Vi is survived by her daughter; Linda Bolek of Traverse City, and her son; Mark Bolek of Big Rapids, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
