---- — ELBERTA — Mrs. Mabel R. Little, age 93, of Elberta, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. Mabel was born on Dec. 30, 1919, to Chester and Nellie Summerfield.

Her greatest joys were her family, baking, her church, entertaining, family reunions and joy rides with Allen.

Mabel enjoyed visiting and helping everyone and never met a stranger. Mabel was a very active member in the Elberta United Methodist Church, serving as choir director and a member of the Women’s Society for many years, where she served as both secretary and treasurer. She also worked at the “Next to New” which helped raised monies for the church.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 73 years, Allen L. Little; children, Mary Jo (Dick) Putney and Morris B. Little; grandchildren, Kimberly (Todd) Nordquist, Michelle (Kirk) Amador and Patricia A. Little; great-grandchildren, Wesley Nordquist, Ashlee and Drew Amador; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Allen William; daughter-in-law, Patsy Little; great-grandsons, Alex and Grant; and her 12 brothers and sisters.

A celebration of Mabel’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at the Elberta United Methodist Church, 555 Lincoln Ave. Her family will greet relatives and friends today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Jowett Funeral Home, 7223 South Street in Benzonia, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Gilmore Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mabel’s memory may be made to the Elberta UMC or the American Cancer Society.
