CEDAR — Marjorie Persik Glazier, 96, of Cedar, passed away Sept. 16, 2013, at Munson Medical Center surrounded by her family. Marjorie was born on Dec. 29, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Fred Hoffman and Bessie Hancock.
In 1938 Marjorie married John Persik. He passed away in 1953, as did her son, Robert, that same year.
On Aug. 28, 1954, Marjorie married Steve Glazier in Cedar.
Marjorie was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Senior Citizen Group in Maple City.
In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, crocheting and traveling. She loved to collect recipes and had over 1,000 saved up and ready to cook when company dropped by for a visit. She lived for such visits, and everyone always left with a full stomach and something delicious to take home. Marjorie was also well known for her wedding cakes, which she beautifully decorated.
Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her sisters who visited from Chicago. In her later years she also enjoyed trips to the casino and playing cards.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Ron (Dottie) Persik, of Oronoco, Minn., Marlene (Phil Schloss) DeVoe, of St. Cloud, Minn., Donna (David) Finch, of Cedar, Jean (Ken) Stickler, of Traverse City, Steve (Jackie) Glazier, of Cedar, and Patti (Donald) Mikowski, of Lake Leelanau; her sister, Helen Jamieson, of Chicago; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Glazier; her first husband, John Persik; her son, Robert Persik; her parents, Fred and Bessie; her brothers, Lester Schoen and Fred Hoffman; and sisters, Ruth Caden and Florence Cook.
Visitation will take place on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will also take place at the church on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., with visitation held one hour prior. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
