ELK RAPIDS — Carol Hubbell, 81, passed away peacefully at home in Elk Rapids on March 16, 2013. She was born on May 14, 1931 to Elmer and Pearl (Stites) Kennedy in Elk Rapids.
Carol graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 1948, and married her high-school sweetheart, Harold Hubbell, in 1949. Carol worked at the Traverse City Public Library. She was the coordinator for the “Library for the Blind” and after 30 years of dedicated work, she retired in 1996. Carol’s hobbies included reading, playing her mother’s piano, and sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress and took pleasure in following fashion, which inspired her sewing projects for her daughter and granddaughters. Carol loved cats and owned a cat all her life.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Harold, children Leslie (Geralyn) Hubbell, of West Branch, Donn (Jerrison) Hubbell, of Cadillac, Holly (Daniel) Kaidan, of Chester, N.J., and daughter-in-law Carleen Hubbell, of Williamsburg, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Charles Hubbell.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, March 20, at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 21 at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan, at 900 E.
