---- — LANSING — At age 82, Joe entered eternal rest on March 9, 2013, in Louisville, Ky. He was born on Jan. 6, 1931, in Leelanau County, to Theodore and Catherine (Mikowski) Peplinski and was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School and Northwestern Michigan College.
Joe was an active member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the Federated Polish Home in Lansing and the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Louisville, Ky.
Joe was a USAF Korean War veteran and a life member of the VFW.
He retired from General Motors in 1985.
After retirement Joe volunteered at museums, garden projects, food banks and soup kitchens.
Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Esther (Gajewski); brothers, Stephen and Leon; and sisters, Alice and Patricia.
Joe is survived by two sons, Joseph T. Peplinski, of Rochester Hills, and Lee S. Peplinski (Rayanne), of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Alicia and Peter; and two sisters, Regina Klonowski and Adeline Neil.
The family will receive visitors at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave., Lansing, at 10 a.m., Saturday March 23. A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. A celebratory luncheon will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Federated Polish Home, 1030 W. Mount Hope Ave., Lansing. A private family interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery is planned.
