GOSHEN, Ind. — Barbara Joan Linderleaf, 79, went to live with our heavenly father on Friday afternoon at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for 24 years.
She was born Dec. 18, 1933, in Traverse City, to Roy Douglas and Juanita Marie (Ross) Somers. She married Kenneth Max Linderleaf April 18, 1953, in Traverse City. She is survived by six children, Kathleen Linderleaf (Root), of Lake City, Christopher (Mike Sanders) Linderleaf, of Escondido, Calif., Karen (Randy) Brown-Linderleaf, of Traverse City, Mark (Shirley) Linderleaf, of Goshen, Ind., Patrick (Julie) Linderleaf, of Tampa, Fla., and Melissa (Dan) Reece-Linderleaf, of East Jordan; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia (Joe) Hooper, of Kingsley.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She worked as a bookkeeper for a pharmaceutical company.
She was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and the love of her animals.
An 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, memorial service will be conducted at Bristol United Methodist Church, with Pastor Fred Stayton officiating. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City.
