TRAVERSE CITY — Steven "Wags" Lee Wagner, 46, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 29, 2013. He was born Sept. 20, 1966, in Traverse City, to John and Kitty (Heaslip) Wagner.
He worked for Deering Tree Service in Traverse City.
Steve loved the outdoors, scuba diving, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, walking the beach looking for Petoskey stones, taking pictures, collecting vintage Polaris sleds to fix and ride, canoeing the Betsy River with friends and demolition derbies.
Steve believed in dedicating himself to others and his community, whether it was a stranger or friend in need or through charitable programs such as Toys for Tots, Special Olympics and even in his passing, through the Gift of Life.
Steve is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Tammy Yack; son, Matthew (Helen) Wagner; daughter, Amber (Jesse Parks) Wagner; granddaughter, Brooklyn; step grandsons, Cody and Noah; mother, Kitty (Dick) Braden; mother-in-law, Violet Yack; grandmother, Alice Wagner; Grandma Hoch and Grandma Yack; brother, Jan (Pam) Wagner; sister, Lori (Jon) George; brothers-in-law, Garvin (Kelly) Yack and Bill Yack; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wagner; father-in-law, Marvin Yack; grandparents, Leo and Mabel Wagner, Walt and Lucille Heaslip, and Grandpa Hoch; and brother-in-law, Ronald Yack.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Bay Pointe Community Church, 6880 Secor Road, Traverse City. Friends and family will gather from 11 a.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m.
