LEELANAU COUNTY — Hilda Jedena, 96, of Leelanau County passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at her home near Glen Arbor.
Hilda was born in Romania on March 10, 1916, the youngest of the large Gaschler family. Through the tribulation of World War II, Hilda's family became divided as she found herself residing in a displaced persons camp in Austria.

Hilda grew everything from vegetables to berries and enjoyed the fruits of her labor, canning many of the items or adding them to her unbelievable baked goods. She was a remarkable and talented seamstress and was strong in her faith.
Hilda's memory will be cherished by her daughter, Lydia (Peter) Monahan, and her son, Walter Jedena; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as other loving family members and friends.
