LUDINGTON — Edythe R. Bacon Kirt, age 82, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Oakview Medical Care Facility.
She was born April 12, 1930, in Frankfort, to the late Glenn and Lillian (Reed) Bacon. Edythe and Donald W. Kirt were married June 24, 1950, in Frankfort.
Edythe was a member of the first graduating class of the nursing program at Westshore Community College, and was employed as an LPN at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington, from where she later retired in 1985.
She loved her family, gardening, cooking and baking.
Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2007; her parents; and two brothers.
She is survived by her children, Louis (Diane) Kirt, of Reedsburg, Wis., William (Veda) Kirt, of Cass City, and Elizabeth (William Tracy) Blake, of Interlochen; five grandsons, Nicholas (Kristin) Kirt, of Northglenn, Colo., Matthew Kirt, of Reedsburg, Wis., Eric Kirt, of Plainfield, Ill., Jeffrey Kirt, of Reedsburg, Wis., and Christopher (Katie) Kirt, of Manhattan, Ill.; four great-grandsons; her sisters, Frances Wyatt, of Frankfort, and Joyce Kirshner, of Frankfort; a brother, Lawrence Bacon, of Manistee; a brother-in-law, Joseph Kirt, of Lake Leelanau; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Private services have been held. Interment was in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, Traverse City.
