---- — INTERLOCHEN — Craig J. Serrano, 50, of Interlochen, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at his home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born on Feb. 7, 1963, in New York, N.Y., the son of Gilbert and Renetta (Thomas) Serrano.
He graduated from Chuigiak High School in Eagle River, Alaska.
Before Craig became ill he worked in sales for Greenbaum Home Furnishings in Bellevue, Wash.
Craig married Carrie A. Patulski on Aug. 26, 1995, in Manistee.
Craig enjoyed the outdoors, skiing and hiking in the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. He was a kind person, always smiling and ready for a laugh. He was passionate about his daughters. Craig was very active with his daughters’ school projects and activities. He also loved politics and history.
Craig is survived by his wife, Carrie A. Serrano; children, Lauren Elizabeth and Kendahl Rose Serrano, all of Traverse City; mother, Renetta Smith, of Coupeville, Wash.; father, Gil (Beverly) Serrano, of Wasilla, Alaska; siblings, Gilbert Serrano, of Anchorage, Alaska, Jason Serrano, of Wasilla, Alaska, Carey Serrano, of Nashville, Tenn., Jody Serrano, Lindsay Serrano and Maria Serrano, all of Wasilla, Alaska; and nieces and nephew.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Lake Ann United Methodist Church. A reception will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to his wife, Carrie Serrano, for the benefit of his children.
