Virginia R. 'Ginny' Johnson

TRAVERSE CITY — Mrs. Virginia R. "Ginny" Johnson, age 82, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. Ginny was born to Alex and Mable Andersen on Feb. 23, 1930, in Scottville, and had resided in Muskegon since an early age.

On Aug. 5, 1950, she married Douglas Lee Johnson in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1999. Ginny raised their son, helped her husband with their business and also worked as a clerk at Mona Shores High School for many years.

She was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church, the Viking Linne Lodge #57 and the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274 in Muskegon.

She is survived by her son, Randall (Bonnie) Johnson, of Bellaire; granddaughters, Kendra (Joe Zielinski) Johnson, of Grand Blanc, and Elly Johnson, of Telluride, Colo.; her great-granddaughter, Abigail Jane Zielinski; her sisters, Helen Sonnega, of Muskegon, Dorothy Walasck, of Valdosta, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Lois Nye and Shirley (Donald) Veldman, both of Muskegon; and several nieces, nephews and their children.

Ginny was also preceded in death by her parents and twin brother, Alex R. Andersen.

Ginny will be remembered by her family and friends as a generous fun-loving lady. She loved life and most important to her was her family, especially her two granddaughters.

A celebration of Ginny's life will be held in Muskegon in the summer of 2013, as per her wishes for a "Summer Celebration".

Ginny's family would like to thank her many friends and relatives, the staffs at Heartland Knollview in Muskegon, Heritage Haus in Bellaire, Munson Medical Center and the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City for all the loving and kind care given to Ginny over the past several months. She is home now and at peace. God Bless all of you.
