---- — ELK RAPIDS — Maureen Ann Casey, age 81, of Elk Rapids, passed into eternal life on June 18.
Maureen was born and raised in Royal Oak and raised her family in Waterford. She will be remembered for her heroic witness of hospitality. She enjoyed ice skating parties on Sylvan Lake, bon fires at Rondeau Park, cocktail parties at Ft. Myers Beach and card parties in Elk Rapids.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; and her parents, Bernard and Harriet Clinton.
She is survived by her sister, Joanna (Larry) Rickfelder; and by Bill and Kay Casey. Also surviving are her children, Daniel (Dawn), Michael, Mary Jo (Ken) Dietrich, the Reverend Patrick and Joseph (Catherine); her grandchildren, Patrick (Jennifer), Megan, Tara, Maura and Matthew; and a brand new great-granddaughter, McKenna.
Visitation will be today, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Covell Funeral Home, Elk Rapids. Come and share your memories of Maureen. Funny, profound, inappropriate, true, not-so-true and loving stories are welcome and encouraged. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 143 Charles Street, Elk Rapids, on Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m., with visitation at the church beginning at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial tributes to the Elk Rapids Community Cupboard.
