FRANKFORT — Lance Alan Smith, Frankfort, 55, died Oct. 17, 2013. Born in Reed City, on Dec. 3, 1957 he was the son of the late Howard and Nancy (Williams) Smith.
In Lance’s junior year he was nominated and selected as a high school All American for 1974-75, nominated by James Buzzell. He was coach Buzzell’s first state champion wrestler. He graduated from Frankfort Elberta High School in 1976. Lance was accepted into the “Hall of Fame” of Frankfort.
He was a Michigan outdoors man enjoying all it had to offer. Lance was a plumber for Benzie County for 40 years. He was gracious, outgoing, generous and caring. There are many other words that can barely come to explain who he was to everyone.
He is survived by children, Justin Smith, Ambriel Smith and Nicole Smith; granddaughter, Raya Jennex; siblings, Hope (Don) Saladin of Reed City, Scott (Sheila) Smith of Benzonia, Craig Smith of Reed City and Robin (Don) Jensen of Frankfort; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend, Sharon Vanderlind and many good friends.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct 25 at the Jowett Family Funeral Homes in Benzonia, with Jim Buzzell and Tom Stobie speaking. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
