KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Ronald Lee “Ron” Beck, 65, of Kissimmee, Fla., and formerly of Joliet, Ill., and Traverse City, passed away Sept. 14, 2013, at his home in Kissimmee, Fla. Ron was born on June 1, 1948, in Joliet, Ill., to the late Dorothy W. Ledwa.
Ron served in the U.S. Air Force at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Ga., as a jet aircraft mechanic during the war in Vietnam.
On March 4, 1972, he married the late Barbara J. Gordon. They were married for 36 wonderful years until Barbara passed away in January of 2008.
Ron was an avid sportsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and was the owner/operator of Therapy Charters in Leland.
Ron is survived by his five children; two daughters, Krista L. Beck (Larry B. White), of Rapid City, and Amber M. Beck, of Kissimmee, Fla.; and three sons, Sean E. Beck, of Kissimmee, Fla., Jason R. Beck (Leticia), of Kissimmee, Fla., and Justin R. Beck, of Kissimmee, Fla. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Alexandra E. Press, Byron W.R. Lorton, Micah A. Lorton, Nicholas A. White and Matthew R. Beck; his sisters, Wilma J. Kirman (Gary), of Creal Springs, Ill., and Penny J. Nathan (Andy), of San Diego, Calif.; his brothers, Robert L. Ledwa, of Joliet, Ill., David R. Ledwa, of Mesick, Joseph R. Ledwa (Sherry), of Lockport, Ill., Theodore R. Ledwa (Tabitha), of Dwight, Ill., Richard A. Ledwa (Becky), of Minooka, Ill., and Russell L. Ledwa, of Lockport, Ill.; an uncle, Delmer Beck; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara E. and Ervin P. Wren; his two best friends, Gary E. Knight and Michael J. Maher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Jean Beck (nee Gordon); his mother, Dorothy W. Ledwa (nee Beck); his grandparents, Dolores T. and Andrew N. Tomac; and a very dear friend, Dennis Blazekovich.
Services for Ronald Beck will be held on Oct. 19, 2013, at Faith Bible Church, 1600 Schuster Street, Joliet, IL 60433, with Pastor Jay Fernlund officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 10 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 11 a.m. A potluck luncheon will follow the memorial service at the Remington Woods Retirement Village Community Center, 22500 S. Remington Drive, Channahon, IL 60410
