MANCELONA — Shirley A. Monroe, 67, of Mancelona, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1946, in Northville, the daughter of the late Irvin and Hattie (Triplett) Way Jr. Shirley married Marvin D. Monroe on Aug. 31, 1965, in Grand Rapids.
Her passions included reading, camping, fishing and bird watching. Shirley loved the outdoors and animals of all kinds, but especially her dogs, Annie and Sadie.
Surviving Shirley are her husband of 48 years, Marvin; her daughters, Diana Marie Monroe, of Iron River, April Dawn (Randall) Arnott, of Interlochen, and Georgenia Rose (Ernest) Hromada, of Lake Ann; her cherished grandchildren, Terri, Lissa, Ernie Jr. “EJ” and Dylan; great-granddaughter, Ellie; and her siblings, Neil Way, of Kewadin, Diane (Dave) Heymes, of Kalkaska, Rick (Diane) Way, of Dunnellon, Fla., and Bill Way, of Wyoming.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her baby brother, Elmer.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Pastor Bob Freysinger of the Kalkaska United Methodist Church will be officiating.
