ELK RAPIDS — Diane Joy Hoedeman, 74, passed away at Munson Medical Center on Feb. 26, 2013. Diane was born to Burton and Marian (Krohn) Lee on March 23, 1938, in Flint.
Diane graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.
For most of her life Diane worked as a counselor and educator.
In 1961 Diane married Delmer Hoedeman.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed photography and crafting. She loved researching genealogy and sharing family stories. She was passionate about politics and loved a good debate. She was virtually unbeatable at Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit, try as we might. She loved the way a dog stirred up the dead air in a room.
We will treasure our memories of our adventurous rambles, quests for ghost towns and talks with the lake.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Kim Hoedeman; son, Tom Hoedeman; granddaughter, Audrey Louchart; nieces, Becky (Aaron) George, Jenny (Tim) Laskowski and Leanne (Tom) Ruediger; and her dog, Roosevelt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Lee.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice House or AC Paw.
