---- — ONEKAMA — John “Jack” Henry Kline, 93, of Onekama, died peacefully Friday, April 5, 2013, at his home. He was born July 4, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Abraham Lenox and Clara Elizabeth (Kettner) Kline.
Jack graduated from Onekama High School in 1937 and from Michigan State University in 1942 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He married Virginia Marie Ray on Nov. 20, 1941, in Albion.
Jack worked at Ford Motor Company during the summers of 1940 and 1941, Allis Chalmers and Wisconsin Electric Power in Milwaukee, Commonwealth Associates in Jackson, Daverman Associates in Grand Rapids, Lansing Board of Water and Light and Consumers Power Company in Jackson.
He retired in 1984 and they moved to Walnut Grove Farm, east of Onekama, a family Centennial Farm.
Jack was registered in five states as a professional engineer. Jack was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Water Works Association, National Professional Engineers, Michigan Society of Professional Engineers, Lions Club and Trinity Lutheran Church of Onekama.
Jack and Virginia were foster parents for nine babies.
His hobbies were woodworking, gardening, electrical and plumbing. Jack designed the addition to the original farm house.
Jack is survived by his son, Richard (Linda) Kline, of Albion, and their daughter, Frances Marie (Ron) Bacic, of North Little Rock, Ark.; his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Richardson Kline, of Onekama, and her children, John Fletcher Kline, of Onekama, Kipp Ray (Jean) Kline, of Meansville, Ga., and Kimberly Kay (Cork) Anderson, of Frankfort; his son-in-law, Garry (Bonnie Porter) Haigh, of Charlotte, and his children, Jean Marie (John) Holland, of Weidman, and Arthur (Candy) Haigh, of Charlotte. Jack is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Katherine, Kali and Ethan Kline, Griffin and Fletcher Anderson, Nichelle, Michaela and Jessica Holland, Matthew and Dylan Haigh, and Ian and Derek Bacic.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Virginia in 2011; son, Harold Lenox Kline in 2000; daughter, Marjorie Marie Haigh in 1990; son, George Frederick Kline in 1970; baby boy Kline in 1961; and his brother, William Lenox Kline in 1936.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama, with Pastor Ainslie Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Onekama Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m . Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva.
