---- — SUTTONS BAY — Marvin Curtis Rorick, 85, of Suttons Bay, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Munson Medical Center, comforted by his family.
Marvin was born April 30, 1927, in Seneca, the son of Curtis K. Rorick and Margaret Ruth (Lloyd) Rorick. On Aug. 6, 1949, in Morenci, he married his loving wife of 63 years, Luella M. (Hartman) Rorick, who survives.
A graduate of Michigan State University Marv had a distinguished career in the insurance industry including over 25 years in his dream job with Auto-Owners Insurance.
He and Lu moved into their home on Grand Traverse Bay after retirement, where he loved speedboats, sailing and his tractors.
Marv was known for helping others and for an unyielding positive attitude. He was an active, longtime supporter and past board member of the Leelanau Conservancy.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Luella; three children, Janet Rorick, James (Sharon) Rorick and Jack (Lisa) Rorick; four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Jacob Rorick, Hart Rorickand Natalie Ferrer; and one great-granddaughter, Mara Morley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert; and a sister, Catherine.
Private family services have been held. Burial was held in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City.
