SYLVANIA, Ohio — Marjorie E. Chryst passed away Feb. 21, 2014 at the Ebeid Hospice residence in Sylvania, Ohio. Marjorie was born April 22, 1920 at Dunn County (Menomonie) Wisconsin to Shermin and Nettie Schaefer. After graduation from Menomonie High School, she married the love of her life, Dwayne M. Chryst in 1941.
Following the end of World War II, Mom was a homemaker and loving mother. She lived with Dwayne in Indiana, Missouri, California, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, and Florida. She was the captain of the homefront, raising four sons. She was proud that each of her boys attained the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts. Mom was very active at Pilgrim Church along with the neighborhood potluck group of Charlestown St. She loved to tend her flower gardens, sew and paint beautiful landscapes. She happily spent many summers on the annual family camping trips at Interlochen State Park, during the last week of July and first week of Aug., along with many other family camper friends each year.
Marjorie is survived by her sons, David (Vivian) Chryst of Buckley, Rodney (Patti) Chryst of Toledo, Ohio, Gregory (Ann) Chryst of Seattle, Wash., and daughter-in-law, Karen Chryst of Kings Mountain, N.C.; grandchildren, Deanna (Michael) Erwin, Eric (Bonnie) Chryst, Steven Jewell (Karen Howard), Stacey Krause (Curtis Stone), Kelly Chryst, Stephen (Sharon) Chryst, Neil (Rochelle) Chryst, Bradley Chryst, Kevin Chryst, Tim (Natasha) Chryst, Megan (Brian) Ladd, Rachelle (Logan) Messer and Victoria Chryst; great-grandchildren, Katie, Nicholas, Natalie, Jenna, Julia Chryst and Cosette Ladd, Matthew, Martin, Tony, William and Thomas Stallman, Adam and Steven Krause, Sierra and Glynnis Pierce, and Hannah and Lydia Kastenschmidt.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwayne; sister, Delores Malone; son, Douglas; grandson, Jeffrey Chryst; and granddaughters, Stephanie Pierce and Stasha Kastenschmidt.
A gathering will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie St. Sylvania, OH 43560. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Sylvania Care and Rehabilitation and Ebeid Hospice Residence for the loving care extended to our mother during her last months and days.
