GRAWN — Shirley J. Rose, age 84, of Grawn passed away peacefully Friday, March 14, 2014, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born April 8, 1929, in Detroit to Clemence and Ona (Eby) Snarr. She married Marvin Walter Rose on Sept. 10, 1949, in Detroit. Together they raised three children.
June was a long-time member of the Cherry Capital Cruisers and the Grawn United Methodist Church. She was excellent at crocheting and she could make anything old look brand new. She loved antiquing and home decorating. June was a very giving person and was known for sharing her talents with many.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Walt, of 64 years; daughters, Kathy (Terence) Shaw of Troy and Karen (Mike) Smar of Ferndale; daughter-in-law Janet Rose of Rochester Hills; six grandchildren, Katie Shaw, Michael Smar, Michael, Sara, Melanie, and Christopher Rose; and three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Madison, and Savanna.
Besides her parents, June was preceded in death by her son, Craig Rose.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Grawn United Methodist Church, 1260 S.W. Silver Lake Rd., Traverse City MI 49685.
