MANTON — Ione Orilla (Kibbe) Bishop of Manton passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by family on March 17, 2014. She was 97.
Ione was born in Flint, Mich., on Sept. 20, 1916, to Harold and Ida (Anderson) Kibbe. She grew up in the Manton area and graduated from Manton School in 1933 and took a business course in Traverse City. She married Orman Bishop on July 6, 1938.
Ione is survived by her children, Sharon (Duane) Larr of Manton, John (Lois) Bishop of Cadillac; sister, Marilyn (Gordon) Peek of Traverse City; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Orman; and brothers, Lyle and Leo Kibbe.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Gilbert Trinity Lutheran Church, two miles southwest of Manton at 2780 N. 41 Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Rollins Christian Fellowship Church, two miles east of Manton on M-42, with visitation one hour prior to service. Officiating will be Pastors Bachman and Glupker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilbert Trinity Lutheran Church, Gideon International or the Manton Alumni Scholarship Association.
