HONOR — Barton Joseph Osborne, 75, of Honor, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at his home under the care of hospice and his loving wife, supported by his family. He was born July 13, 1938, in Lackawanna, N.Y.
Bart was employed at Burwood Products in Traverse City for 22 years. Afterwards he was employed at Munson Medical Center as the day manager of the environmental services department for over 10 years. Bart also served on the Honor Village Council for many years.
When his was younger, Bart was in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. In his spare time, Bart enjoyed fishing, wood carving, hunting, snowmobiling and going kayaking on the river that ran through his backyard. Most of all, Bart loved spending time with his family.
Bart is survived by his wife, Sharon Osborne; his son, Michael (Lorie) Osborne of Beulah; his daughters, Lori (Mark) Giddis of Interlochen, Sheila (Michael) Snyder of Traverse City, and Karen (Daniel) Goetz of West Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Steenhagen, Todd (Ashley) McGee, Curtis Osborne, Spencer Osborne, Brandon Schaefer, Benjamin Snyder, Michelle Mitchell and Paige Goetz; three great-grandchildren, Anna McGee, Natalie Steenhagen and Karessa Wilman; his step-children, Thomas Paupore II of Traverse City, Joseph Paupore of Muskegon, Leslie (Jessie) Bueno of Phoenix, Ariz., and Nicholas (Maria) Paupore of Woodbridge, Va.; and four step-grandchildren, Justin Paupore, Julian Bueno, Cody Paupore and Mailey Paupore.
Bart was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Nedow) Osborne; his first wife, Ruth Ann (Perrault) Osborne; his infant daughter, Gail Ann Osborne; his infant granddaughter, Sarah Renae McGee; and his half-brother, Jack Osborne.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, with Father John Porter officiating. Interment will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, in Suttons Bay, in the spring. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m., until time of the services on Monday, at the funeral home.
