INTERLOCHEN — Patricia Ann Worden of Interlochen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on March 13, 2014 with her cat “Mic” on her lap and her German shepherd “Buddy” by her bed.
She was born in Frankfort, Mich. on June 18, 1927 the daughter of Oliver and Dorothy (Eggers) Doane.
Pat retired from the Tax Assessors office in Murphy, Idaho and moved back to Benzie County.
She was a member of the Eastern Stars. In the early 70’s she was Trail Boss of the Michigan Trail Riders Association and was the winner of the I-500 Women’s 100 mile enduro snowmobile race.
She was an avid outdoors person. When she was younger she hunted and fished. Especially loving to ice fish with tip-ups on Big Platte Lake where she received the Chegegon plaque for a record pike taken on tip-ups. She loved all animals and had horses, cows, pigs, goats, lambs, chickens, rabbits and ducks at one time or another in her life. She loved to downhill and cross country ski, play tennis, golf, horseback riding, snowmobiling and motorcycling, but her favorite time was with her family.
She loved helping others with their projects. If you were to sum her life up with a few words they would be: If it can be done - she could do it!
She is survived by her children Dorothy (Mike) Schaub, Scott Worden, Nikki (Bob) Sheren; sisters, Kay Richey, Suzi Bristol Weston; and brother Lewis Doane; grandchildren, Dr. Jessi Sedlacek, Sandy (Rob McClintock, Steve (Betsy Schaub, Tina (Mark) Clark, Wes (Jessica), A.J., Sam Worden; nine great-grandchildren and many special friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her daughter Wendy Sue and her husband Wendell G. Worden.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 22, 2014 at the Worden’s lot on Big Platte Lake. All family and friends are invited.
