TRAVERSE CITY — Zola A. Hennrick, age 96, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions Dogwood Unit. She was born March 31, 1917, in Traverse City to Clarence “Chi” and Ivah (Wood) Chichester.
She married the late Frank E. Hennrick on Dec. 14, 1941, in Traverse City. Together they raised three children.
Zola worked for Detweiler’s Drug Store until she was 75. She was an accomplished seamstress, baker, and rose gardener. She loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sharron Browning of Traverse City; and son Ed (Patti) Hennrick of Traverse City; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Zola was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; daughter, Jacki Mummey; and brothers, Clarence “Bud” Chichester and Jack Chichester.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A funeral will be held Wednesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Grand Traverse Pavilions Dogwood Unit for their care and compassion toward Zola.
