Joy Marie Grace

WILLIAMSBURG — Joy Marie Grace, 68, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at her home in Williamsburg. She was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Kewadin, to George and Rose Louiselle.

Joy graduated from Elk Rapids High school in 1963. She went on to earn a degree in cosmetology at Northwestern Michigan Beauty Academy.

Married for 46 years to Ralph Hirt Grace, they raised two daughters over the years in Battle Creek, Owosso and Rockford. She was very supportive of all of her family’s endeavors and was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Known for her contagious smile and sweet demureness, she won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy shown through her constant smile and laughter will never be forgotten.

Joy had many loves – spending time with family and friends, keeping an immaculate home, boating and working outside in the yard.

She was a dedicated volunteer for functions at the AMVETS and church. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids and the Ladies Auxiliary of AMVETS Post 114, also of Elk Rapids.

Joy is survived by her husband, Ralph Hirt Grace; her two daughters, Jennifer Vander Meulen and Karmin (Jason) Sleder; grandchildren, Mollee, Camron and Bree Vander Meulen; and siblings, Douglas Louiselle, Ann (Lon) Bargy and Steven (Sue) Louiselle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wallen Louiselle.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids. The Rev. Dr. Andrew Martinez will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids.
