SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Ruth Ella (Thompson) Ensworth passed away on Dec. 21, 2013, at her daughter’s home in San Diego, Calif.
Ruth was a 1952 graduate of Frankfort High School following which she received her BA and master’s degrees from Michigan State University.
Ruth, born on Aug. 31, 1933, was the daughter of Deo Niels Thompson and Libbie Leah Weksler, children of early Elberta settlers. She married Richard Wilson Ensworth on June 26, 1966. He predeceased her in 2002.
She had several and varied careers including teaching school, as a leader in the field of remedial and speed reading, as a real-estate agent and, with her husband, running a successful florist business in Apple Valley, Calif., where they played an active and leading role in civic and business organizations.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Libbie Ann Ensworth Nienstedt; her son-in-law, John E. Nienstedt; grandson, Johnny; her brother, Laurence A. Thompson, his wife, Maureen; Ruth’s nephew, Scott; and nieces, Robbin and Karen.
Services were conducted by Rabbi Richard Steinberg and Cantor Arie Shikler, with burial in El Comino Memorial Cemetery, San Diego, Calif., on Dec. 24, 2013.
