TRAVERSE CITY — Betty Jean Roosevelt, 87, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Munson Hospice House.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1926, in Flint, to the late Clarence and Bertha (Pierce) Magee. She was married to Carleton C. Roosevelt on May 29, 1946, in Traverse City. He preceded her in death.
Betty had been employed as a retail manger by Stellens and Diana Shops.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Betty was a creative and gifted artist. She had done several drawing and paintings and had written many poems. Her favorite saying was, “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough.”
Betty is survived by her son, David (Deborah) Roosevelt; four grandchildren, Sean (Becky), Tracy (Jeff), Erin (Shannon) and David; and four great-grandchildren, Molly, Lexie, Maddison and Jenna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton; a son, Robert Roosevelt; two brothers and two sisters.
In accordance with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
