Elizabeth Dmochowski

KALKASKA — Elizabeth “Betty” Dmochowski, age 94, of Kalkaska, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Sept. 22, 1919, in Detroit, to the late Peter and Casharma (Kozuchowski) Brucki.

Betty married Edward “Eddie” Dmochowski on Nov. 22, 1941, in Detroit. They resided in San Francisco for six years while Eddie served in the U.S. Army. After that they moved to Detroit, where they raised their four children. After Eddie retired in 1978 they moved to Kalkaska and made their home on Wagenschutz Road. Betty resided at Eden Center for the last three-and-a-half years.

Betty enjoyed working on special events for Kalkaska VFW Post 8684 and running their Bingo night.

She liked to read and loved family get-togethers.

Betty was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Barbara Dmochowski, of Bellaire, Carol (James) Jermanus, of Canton, Pamela Thompson, of Florida, and Marri (Steven) Hogerheide, of South Boardman; her cherished grandchildren, Debra (Gary) Shelton, Cheri Jermanus, Amie (Dan) Deak, Robin (Mike) Nowak, Brad (Jamie) Hogerheide, Jeff (Kellie) Hogerheide and Mike Hogerheide; and her 12 precious great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Eddie; her parents; her brothers, Eugene Brucki and Peter Brucki; and her sister, Frances Sobczak.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, with the Reverend Norman Dickson, S.J., of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Excelsior Township Cemetery in the spring.
