ELK RAPIDS — Alma Baker, 88, of Elk Rapids, passed away on Feb. 4, 2014. She was born in Henderson, Neb., on Dec. 25, 1925, to Peter and Agnes (Ediger) Dalke.
Alma graduated from Fordson High School.
She married Edward Baker at 18 years old, and they spent 58 years happily married. Together they raised two children.
Alma earned her bachelor’s degree from EMU at the age of 46 and later earned her master’s degree in psychology at the Merrill Palmer Institute in Detroit.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her son, Tom Baker; parents; and brother, Alvin Dalke.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bruce) Finlayson; grandchildren, Kerri Finlayson, Tracey (Scott) Mitchell, Nathan (Vicky) Baker and Adam (Jenny) Baker; great-grandchildren, Dereck and Julia Baker and Emma Mitchell; and daughter-in-law, Lynne Baker.
No services will be held at this time.
