---- — CHANDLER, Ariz. — Wilma Marie (Koski) Oliver, 88, daughter of John and Alva Koski, passed away peacefully on Wednesday Jan. 29, 2014, in Chandler, Ariz.

A family funeral service was held at Green Acres in Scottsdale, Ariz. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. There was a small gathering of mostly immediate family to remember her and all she did to warm our hearts. Wilma’s wishes were to be cremated and placed in the mausoleum with her husband George Oliver.

Wilma Marie (Koski) Oliver was born in Skanee, Mich., and then went on to attend L’Anse High School, where she met her husband to be, George Oliver. George and Wilma were married on Sept. 19, 1943, and they were happily married until George passed in 1994.

Wilma served as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II in River Rouge. After the war, she moved to Traverse City, where she was employed as an underwriter by Michigan Mutual Auto Insurance Company until her retirement in 1981 when she moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., with George. She enjoyed 51 years of marriage until George’s passing.

Wilma will always be loved and now will be missed by many of her friends in Arizona and in Michigan.

She leaves behind her son, Randy (Karen); granddaughter, Lisa; granddaughter, Angie (Chris); and great-grandsons, Noah Davis and Connor Davis. She is also survived by her two sisters, Merle Olson (Ode deceased), and Myrna Ward (Paul “Bud”). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Wilma was a loving and fun friend, mother, grandmother and wife, we’re all very lucky to have shared this earth with such a lovely person.

In lieu of flowers, Wilma would have loved it if you had a piece of chocolate and thought about her.
