TRAVERSE CITY — Elsie L. Beardsley, 82, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at her home. She was born at home in Clearwater Township, Kalkaska County, the daughter of Robert and Kate (Painter) Peters.
Elsie was a homemaker and attended Fellowship Church.
Elsie loved to travel with her husband, Leonard, especially to Florida. With her focus always on her family, she was very supportive of them. She was a loving wife and mother and was good example of a role model through her marriage for her family and friends. She had a strong impact and influence on her children and grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by his children, Elsie (Delbert) Farrar, Robin Beardsley, Carl (Sylvia) Beardsley, Josa (Ralph) Schaub, Thomas Beardsley and Geana (Larry) Hilbert; 19 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, John Copen, of Florida, Blanche Campbell, of Traverse City, Florence (Don) Saxton and Ellen (Amil) Strang, of Buckley.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard Beardsley; two grandchildren, Jermey and Nichole; and siblings, Dorothy Peters, Jim Copen, Harriett Copen, Andy Copen, Rosetta Nemec, Ethel Dickerson, Mary Bargy and Kate Campbell.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 29, 2013, at Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City, with Hospice of Michigan Chaplain Ron White officiating. A private burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in the spring.
