TRAVERSE CITY — Ruth K. Taylor, 84, of Traverse City, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Munson Hospice House, with her immediate family at her side. She was born on Oct. 14, 1929, in Indianapolis, to Elmer and Ruth (Strasburger) Homrighausen and was reared in both Indianapolis and Princeton, N.J.
Ruth graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster in 1954 and received her master’s in library science from U of M a few years later.
She married Mac Taylor on Aug. 28, 1952. They retired to Traverse City from Troy in 1994.
Ruth became very involved with committees for the building of the current city library and was continually active in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the League of Women Voters and the Presbyterian Church.
Ruth was a loving wife and mother. She cherished her Traverse City community. All who knew her were touched by her warmth and kindness.
She is survived by her husband, Mac; son, Grant; and daughters, Anna and Lee. Also surviving are her brothers, Richard, Paul and David; and sister, Mary, all of whom live out of state.
A memorial service, followed by a light lunch, will be held on Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at The Presbyterian Church in Traverse City. For those who wish, there will be the possibility to say a few words about Ruth during the service.
