TRAVERSE CITY — Joan Elizabeth Duff, 84, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 11, 2013. Joan was born in Michigan City, Ind., on Oct. 18, 1929, to the late David and Michelle (Gable) LeDuc.
She graduated from Escanaba Catholic High School and worked as a cashier in her father’s grocery store and as a telephone switch board operator. Joan was employed with Hudson’s retail store for 31 years as a counter sales clerk; she achieved and held a senior management position until retiring in 1984 when she relocated from Belleville to Traverse City.
Joan was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church and especially enjoyed playing Bingo and working on her New York Times crossword puzzles.
She is survived by daughter, Sue (Martin) Stroebel, of Traverse City; brothers, Edward LeDuc, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Kenneth (Jeannie) LeDuc, of Escanaba; granddaughter, Jody (Ben) Hawkins; and significant other, Mancell Hein, of Traverse City.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eugene Croswell; sister, Jeanine DeMuse; and brother, David LeDuc.
There will be no public service per Joan’s request.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association - Northern Michigan Region, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
