TRAVERSE CITY — Gloria I. Monroe, age 91, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at Grand Traverse Pavilions on March 3, 2014. She was the daughter of Burl and Sylvia (Swaney) Ghastin, of Old Mission.
Gloria married Robert Monroe in Traverse City. They were married for 45 years and together raised four sons. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Gloria spent her entire life in Traverse City and was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Gloria is survived by her sons, Max, Jim (Pat), Bob (Cathy) and Mark Monroe; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Sherry; granddaughter, Anita; brothers, James, Leo, Vernon, Marquis, Glen and Maxwell; and sisters, Beverly and Pauline.
A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
