TRAVERSE CITY — Anita Phyllis Beall, 83, a Traverse City native, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Munson Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 10, 1930, in Traverse City, to the late Charles and Edna (Hunt) Melichar.
She was married to Dr. John G. “Jack” Beall in 1964. He preceded her in death in 1985. Together they loved to cruise the Great Lakes on their boat the “Nattijac.”
Anita was a homemaker and worked years ago as an operator for Michigan Bell and in Jack’s ophthalmology office.
Anita is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (David Prong) Keway; a sister, Barbara (Ron) Clinton; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Melichar. Also surviving are stepsons, nieces and nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by two infant sons, Steven and Michael Keway; their father, Philip Keway; a brother, Gerald Melichar; a sister, Maxine Streff; a brother-in-law, Del Streff; and a special great-aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Clarence Braden.
A memorial service honoring Anita will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Henke will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
