Terry L. Hart

SOUTH BOARDMAN — Terry L. Hart, 60, of South Boardman, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, with his family by his side after a short, but brave and diligent battle with cancer. Terry was born in Flint on May 13, 1953, the son of Fred and Ellen (Howell) Hart.

He married the late Gina Lucille (Chicilli) Hart on July 2, 1981, which was also Gina’s 24th birthday. Together they shared over 28 years of marriage before her passing on March 21, 2010.

Terry graduated from Flushing High School in 1971 and began employment as a machine repair technician for Coca Cola. He held the position for 18 years. After his time at Coca Cola he became a stay-at-home dad while still being a jack-of-all-trades.

Terry was a resident of Flushing until he moved his family to northern Michigan in 1993.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and holiday cookouts. Most importantly, his grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he let everyone know it!

Terry was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 219 of Fife Lake.

Additionally, he never minded helping others with any task and instilled a strong work ethic into his children, which they admire.

Terry is survived by his four children, Janel (fiancé, David McGaffigan) Garza, of Manistee, Lisa Hart, of Traverse City, Laura (Matt) Smith, of South Boardman, and Scott Hart, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; his mother, Ellen Hart, of Fife Lake; eight grandchildren, Jessica (fiancé, Randy), Clarissa, Caleb, Domenic, Cara, Carly, Christian and a girl due in May; two brothers, Gary (the late Sue) Hart, of Fife Lake, and Fred (Karen) Hart, of South Boardman; as well as many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gina L. Hart; father, Fred E. Hart; and sister-in-law, Sue A. Hart.

Per Terry’s request, private arrangements will take place on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the family to use for various charities in Terry’s honor.

Kalkaska Funeral Home and St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church of Kalkaska are handling all of the arrangements.
