RAPID CITY — Ellen Knust, 96, of Rapid City, passed away on Feb. 16, 2014, at Meadowbrook in Bellaire. She was born on Oct. 23, 1917, to the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Richert) Mathie in South Lyon, the youngest of 14 children.
In 1935 Ellen was united in marriage with Edward L. Knust in Romeo. They resided there until 1946 when the family moved to Rapid City close to beautiful Torch Lake. Ellen was a homemaker and worked briefly at various jobs outside the home.
Her hobbies included reading, gardening and caring for her children and grandchildren.
Ellen is survived by her children, Edward R. (Shirley Cochren) Knust, James D. (Heather Templin) Knust, all of Rapid City, and Janice G. (Russell) Clark, of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ellen in death was her husband, Edward in 1994.
Ellen will be missed, but will remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 25, at noon, at Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Dan Johnson of the Kalkaska Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
